How does it work?
When particles such as dust, pet dander and household chemicals pass through the filter, they become polarized. These polarized particles join together to form bigger clusters that are more easily captured and collect on the fiberglass pad with an activated carbon center screen. The activated carbon center media pad is a non-woven polyester base fabric. The carbon media is UL certified for flame retardancy, class 2. The fiberglass media becomes polarized by the charge from the power supply and acts like a powerful magnet to attract sub-micron particles.
Why Would We Need Such a Device in Our Homes?
Newer
homes are built air tight to increase the efficiency of the heating
and air conditioning systems. While this makes us more comfortable,
it comes a a price and that price is air quality. A build up of VOCs
(Volatile Organic Compounds) can occur. The concentration of these
VOCs can be 10 times greater in the home then in the outside air. In
these concentrations the following health issues can occur:
- Eye, nose and throat irritation
- Headaches, loss of coordination and nausea
- Damage to liver, kidney and central nervous system
- Some organics can cause cancer in animals, some are suspected or known to cause cancer in humans.
The original Garrison filter pad may have a target painted on it. Since the manufacturer chose to use a cheaper Carbonized mesh rather than a full sheet of carbon, like the Dynamic Sales HVAC, they had to add a piece of foil as a target so the electrode would touch the foil and electrify the pad. No worry with the Dynamic Sales HVAC brand replacement pads, you can load them any which way they fit and you will be sure to have a secure contact with the carbon sheet for optimal distribution of the electrical current.

Garrison Air Cleaners use electronic polarized-media technology to provide the maximum in air cleaning, while installing quickly into the existing filter tracks of your central heating & cooling system. Air Cleaners are ideal for removing odors as well as the smallest sub-micron particles, airborne pathogens, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Electronic polarized-media technology is non-ionizing which means no Ozone is produced
Garrison Air Cleaners trap 97% of particles at .3 microns and continue trapping particles much smaller in size. Unlike passive mechanical filters where the size of small holes in the material determines the size of particles that can be captured, electronic polarized media employ the principal of agglomeration to join polarized sub-micron particles and VOCs to each other as they pass through the central heating & cooling system. As the particles get larger during subsequent passes, they collect on the air cleaner’s disposable replacement media pads. Over time, even the smallest particles --- those we breathe---are removed from the air.
· Superior filtration traps germs, bacteria, viruses, and allergens better than Merv 11 media filters. Unlike electronic precipitators, effectiveness does not diminish over time.
· Removes cooking, grease and tobacco smoke from the air.
· Easy maintenance: Simply replace economical filter pads as needed.
To replace the Dynamic Media Pad:
- Switch the thermostat to the "off" position and turn off the power to furnace/air handler
- Open the filter access door or panel
- Unplug the adapter cord from the air cleaner
- Remove the air cleaner. If dust has accumulated on the outer screens of the air cleaner, brush or vacuum to clean
- Carefully open the air cleaner and remove the old media pad and discard into a garbage bag
- Position the new media pad - the pad should lay flat and be centered within the frame. Use only genuine Dynamic replacement media pads. Other filter material will not work with your Dynamic Air Cleaner and will void the warranty
- Close the air cleaner and plug the adaptor cord into the air cleaner powerhead
- Re-install the air cleaner into the air handler and restore the power to the air cleaner
